The most alpin and crowded race in the Pyrenees

The 6th edition of the Altitoy will take place on February 2nd-3rd, 2013. Once again, the organization will try to please and surprise all skiers with new technical paths, including ridges and steep corridors. All members of the organization are working extremely hard in order to maintain Altitoy as the flagship of ski mountaineering in thePyrenees.

For this year edition, we have programmed a stage with the finish line at the Pic de Midi astrolonomy center (2,877 m.) The finish will include a final climb up this icon of the Midi Pyrenees region, from where all participants will have one of the most spectacular views of the Pyrenees. www.picdumidi.com

The press and general public will be allowed to the finish line. The finish is expected to be spectacular, including a big crowd waiting for the skiers.

For the 2013 edition, the A path will be more demanding than usual. The Saturday stage will include some2,500 mof climbs and Sunday some2,000 mof climbs.
The B path will also be more challenging that usual, with some1,500 mof climbs on both days. As in the last edition, both races will have to be started in teams of two skiers.

The main change for the 2013 Altitoy is that the race will be part of the Grande course challenge. For the first time, the Altitoy will join this challenge, which includes all of the main ski mountaineering races.

As for the registration procedures, there are two main changes for 2013:

  • Participants willing to take part in the A path will have to pre-register. Once the pre-registration deadline is met, all participants will be notified about which teams are accepted into the race. Some slots will be reserved based on past performances and the rest will be distributed by lottery draft among the remaining entrants.
  • Previous to the final registration for the A path, it is mandatory to obtain the Grande Course card

Registration for the B path will follow previous years´ procedures and it will be open right after the A group registration is over.
